These photos just make me swoon. I had the absolute pleasure of photographing engagement pictures for a former co-worker of mine. Kassy and I worked together for about two years at WestCoast Children’s Clinic in Oakland, California.
We were both administrative staff and would often see each other mostly in the halls of the agency. Kassy and I both left the agency around the same time. In May, she was headed off to her Masters in Nursing program at Columbia University in New York. And shortly after, I went on my own adventure to Athens, Georgia to pursue my Masters in Social Work. When I first moved across the country, I voiced my nervousness and homesickness a few times, via Instagram. Kassy was one of the voices of reassurance, telling me that I would soon get used to my new home, and to give it more time. She couldn’t have been more right.
After seeing some of my photographs and my offering of photography services online, she reached out to me via Instagram and asked if I’d be able to take photos for their engagement. I was, of course, honored and jumped at the chance!
Fun fact: I actually met Ariel for the first time, that day. And almost immediately after seeing them together, their chemistry was both obvious and sweet.
It really is all in the details.
I LOVED this photo shoot location. And it was less than a ten minute drive from my home! Pro-tip: if you have a location in mind for a shoot, as the photographer, make sure the location still has what you need. We originally wanted to get more of a rustic barn feel, and I knew of the perfect place. Luckily–and I’ll give myself credit here–I went to the location earlier and scouted it out to make sure the barn I had in mind was still there.
But, I went there early enough to find out and scope out some other areas that might work. And this grassy field across from a nearby park took my breath away. The end result was more than I could have asked for and we came out of that shoot with plenty of amazing photos to work with.
I’m just gonna leave this here–these two=perfection.
This is my favorite picture. Hands down! I mean, look at those smiles.
Of course, as per usual, I’m ending with the infamous ring pic. Look how beautiful that baby is. Nicely, done you two. I’m so grateful that you both let me capture your love and I wish you all the happiness in the world.
